Communication & Development Manager

Concrete Jungle Foundation is looking for an exceptional part-time Communication & Development Manager (18h/week) to devise and implement the organisation's communications strategy and support the organisation's fundraising efforts.

The successful candidate will be extremely well-organised, has a can-do approach, has strong attention to detail, and is well-versed in communications and visual storytelling.

The role is crucial in helping the Foundation’s operations run smoothly.


Since CJF was founded in the UK in 2016, we’ve built 6 community skateparks across Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean in just over 5 years. Our current worldwide Edu-Skate educational programme is active in Peru, Jamaica and Morocco and is being used by our partners in Austria, Greece, France, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. Our diverse programming engages an estimated 315 children every week across Peru, Jamaica and Morocco in locally staffed skateparks that provide employment opportunities for local young adults. 4 / Role description and core responsibilities 

We are looking for someone that can take ownership of building and managing CJF’s communications strategy across all key platforms while supporting the fundraising efforts of the development director.

A successful candidate may grow into a full-time role over time.

Objectives of this role include:
  • Promoting awareness of and support for the organisation’s mission and work through strategically planned external communications platforms and outreach efforts
  • Expanding our presence and reach across social media platforms as well as industry and traditional media
  • Identifying, implementing and evaluating new partnerships, collaborations and fundraising opportunities
  • Cultivating a network of dedicated partners, supporters, donors and volunteers
Responsibilities include:
  • Co-developing and implementing an effective communication strategy across all external communications channels (website, newsletter, blog, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn…)
  • Drafting content and creating digital assets for the CJF website, newsletter, blog, press releases, social media platforms, external media, and campaigns
  • Researching and developing relationships with individuals, companies, foundations and other external stakeholders interested in supporting, collaborating or partnering with CJF to further the charity’s mission and work
  • Effectively conveying the organisation’s mission, vision and programmes to donors, partners, collaborators and other external stakeholders
  • Co-organizing fundraising/skate/academic events
Required skills and experience:
  • Proven experience as a communications specialist and/or fundraiser
  • Proven proficiency in photo and video-editing software
  • Excellent communication, presentation and relationship building skills (in English)
  • Excellent organisational and planning abilities; ability to stay organised and successfully balance priorities while managing multiple tasks
Preferred skills and experience:
  • Knowledge, understanding and a personal/professional network in the skateboarding industry and/or international development sector
  • Experience in web design, SEO, digital marketing, and/or social media management
  • Experience in Illustrator, Figma, Photoshop, Indesign, Mailchimp, Donorbox
  • Experience in fundraising or sales
  • Experience with CRM or donor management systems
  • Proficiency in Spanish, Arabic and French

Contract type
  • This job is a part-time role (18 hours per week). We are open to flexible working arrangements.
  • Duration: 1 year
Location
  • Remote; or physically in Helsinki, Finland
Salary
  • The salary for this position is a gross €10,368 per annum (€12/hour)
  • The successful applicant must be able to provide a work invoice to the foundation if based outside of the Netherlands.
Holiday entitlement
  • 20 days mandatory paid holiday (January/July)
  • 10 paid holiday days
